Moravia UnionAugust 26, 1954Services SaturdayFor Nina JarvisMrs. Nina Jarvis passed away Wednesday, August 18, at Centerville, following a serious illness the past few months. Nina Etna Jarvis, daughter of H. M. T. and LaVada Adams, was born in Appanoose county, Iowa, near Moravia on December 27, 1892, and departed this life at her home in Centerville, Iowa, on August 18,1954, at the age of 61 years, 7 months, and 21 days. She was married to Charles Jarvis, October 26, 1914. To this union was born seven children. About five years ago the moved to Centerville, Iowa, where theyoperated a grocery store and service station. She was a member of the Christian church of Moravia.She leaves, besides her husband, five daughters: Mrs. Burdine Engle of Centerville; Mrs. Reva Albertson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Mrs. Mattie Buckallew of Exline, Iowa; Mrs. Arlene Hennick of Gilmore City, Iowa; and Mrs. Stella Flowers of Davenport, Iowa; two sons, Monroe Jarvis of Des Moines, and Ralph Jarvis of Brazil, Iowa; her mother, Mrs. LaVada Peck of Moravia; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Kingery and Mrs. Effie Hammond of Ottumwa, and Stella Lenz of Des Moines; a brother, Frank Adams of Port Huron, Michigan; 24 grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. She was a kind and loving mother, and a friend to all who knew her.Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, August 21, at the Turner Funeral home with Rev. Fay Garner officiating. Burial was at Sales cemetery. Pallbearers were Pete Lockman, Raymond Lockman, Elvin Stocker, Homer King, Jep Lockman, and Spencer King. Read less
