Description	:	Nina Leota Davis, the daughter if John Martin and Martha (Young) Simmons, was born September 19, 1902, at Guthrie Center, Iowa. She died on Wednesday, January 18, 1995, at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years, three months and 29 days. She died on Wednesday, January 18, 1995, at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years, three months and 29 days. Nina moved with her family as a small child to Stamford, NE, where she started school. In 1912, the family moved to Alma, NE, where she completed her formal education with the Alma schools. She was united in marriage with Arnold Clarence Davis on September 15, 1919, at Holdrege, NE. They made their home in Alma where her husband owned and operated Davis and Sons Grocery Store. Nina was an accomplished seamstress and was employed for thirty-two years with Heft Cleaners in Alma. She was a volunteer worker for many years at the Colonial Villa and also the Caring Cupboard. Nina was also active in her church and community. She was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her personality was pervaded by a genuine warmth and willingness to help those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Clarence Davis, on April 25, 1984; two sons, Arnold Davis Jr. and Darrell Arthur; a sister, Vera Grutter, and a brother, Frank Simmons. Survivors include her son, Jack Davis and wife Florence of Bertrand; a daughter, DuReece Gehring and husband William of Indianola; a daughter-in-law Bonnie Davis of Stillwater, MN; ten grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, from the Banta-Torrey Funeral Home Chapel in Alma with Pastor Lyn Seiser officiating. Leah Uptagraft was the organist. Casket bearers were Adrienne Davis, Amy Davis, Tony Davis, Matthew Davis, Reggie Davis, Andrew Davis, Kevin Davis, Adam Chick and Ben Chick. Interment was in the Alma Cemetery.
