Description	:	Nola Mae Mayhew, 88, of Lincoln formerly of Beatrice passed away May 25, 2016. She was born July 11, 1927 to James and Vida Mae (Rust) Petet in Niangua, MO. After attending high school in Grovespring, MO, she went to San Diego, Ca where she met and married Leslie Mayhew in 1946. They moved to Beatrice soon after. She was a homemaker until all the children were in school, then worked for B.S.D.C. for eight years and then at the Beatrice Manor until her retirement. After attending high school in Grovespring, MO, she went to San Diego, Ca where she met and married Leslie Mayhew in 1946. They moved to Beatrice soon after. She was a homemaker until all the children were in school, then worked for B.S.D.C. for eight years and then at the Beatrice Manor until her retirement. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of Gage County Historical Society; a Boy Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader and active in P.T.A. She did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and Senior Diners. Survived by her children, Sandra Mayhew of Ashland, Rebecca (Blaine) Lyons of Lincoln, Thomas Mayhew of Lincoln and Daniel (Kim) Mayhew of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Alethea, Joshua and Molly Mayhew of Lincoln, Samantha (Jason) Blake of Winterset, IA and Jamie Lyons of Vista, CA; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Miya Hicks of Lincoln; one great-great-granddaughter, Hiro Seraphina Mercado of Lincoln; one sister-in-law, Maxine Mayhew of Titusville, FL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie who passed away, September 17, 2014 celebrating 68 years of marriage in March 2014; three brothers, Roy, Lloyd and Jim Petet; one sister, Virginia Wicker. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 noon Sunday until time of services on Tuesday. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
