She would have been 94 years of age Sept. 10. Her death was accredited to her age and the severe heat. Mrs. Morehead is survived by her son, Ralph, of Nelson and two daughters, Mrs. Aletha Gharring of Nelson and Mrs. Delia Dailey of Santa Cruz, Calif. She was preceded in death by six children and her husband, W.A. Morehead, who passed away in 1929. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Christian Church of Nelson at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning. ======================================================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, August 11, 1955; pg. 5 Mrs. Nona Morehead was born near Hettick, Ill., Sept. 10, 1861, to John Wesley and Nancy Stults, and departed this life in the Hebron Lutheran Nursing Home Aug. 2 at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was a resident in her new home in Hebron six months. Before that time she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gharring, who faithfully and lovingly cared for her after the death of her husband in 1929. She was the last surviving member of a family of six children. On Oct. 17, 1878, she was united in marriage to William Andrew Morehead at Carlinville, Ill. They made their home in Illinois until 1888 when they went to Vernon, Colo., in a covered wagon and homesteaded. They came to Nuckolls county (sic) in 1896 where she has lived ever since. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1928. To this union nine children were born. Two, Waunita and Carson, died in infancy. Her husband and four other children, Austin, Virgil, Roy, and Pearl Marshall preceded her in death. Those left to mourn her passing are: Delia Dailey of Santa Cruz, Calif., Ralph Morehead and Aletha Gharring of Nelson, 25 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She had been a faithful member of the Christian Church. Her interest in life was her home and loved ones. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock last Friday morning in the Nelson Christian church (sic) with the Rev. James L. Keown officiating. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
