On September 7, 1942, Norman married the love of his life and... Read More	NORMAN HENRY PETERSEN was born November 28, 1921, in Tekamah, Nebraska, to Louis and Ethyl (Henry) Petersen. He passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years. Norman went to Country School District #23 in Burt County and later attended school in Tekamah. He had been a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, where he served in several offices. On September 7, 1942, Norman married the love of his life and his wife of over 70 years Loretta (Wickham) Petersen. Norman started farming with his father at an early age and it became his life's passion. He never retired and continued to build the farm to include his sons and grandsons until the day of his passing. What he loved most about farming was the livestock, especially the cow and calf operation. Over the years of farming he earned many honors including: 100 Year Farm Family award, 2000 Honorable Mention winners in the Master Conservation Competition for Terracing, 1992 Conservation award. He also served on several committees and boards including: director of the Burt Co. CO-OP Board for 9 years, serving as president for 3 of those years, director and member Burt Co. Farm Bureau, director Burt Co. Feeders Association, director District 23 School Board, member of Burt Co. ASCS, Tekamah Cemetery Board Member. The only thing Norman loved more than farming was his family. He always encouraged faith and family to come first and loved to share his advice and ethics on hard work with all his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Loretta, daughter Judith Ann, brother and sister-in-law, Erwin and Wilma Petersen, daughter-in-law Linda Petersen. Survivors include his daughter Shirley (Gary) Jack and three sons, Garry Petersen, Raymond (Leslie) Petersen, Russell (Cynthia) Petersen, all of Tekamah; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. VISITATION: Monday, September 23, 2013, from 4 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation Tuesday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery MEMORIALS: First Baptist Church, Tekamah or Donor's Choice
