Read More	Nebraska City News Press Posted Apr 29, 2010 @ 09:17 AM Nebraska City, Neb. — Norman Ray "Bob" Masters, of Arkadelphia, Ark., 86, formerly of Nebraska City and Syracuse, passed away on April 28, 2010, at the Arkadelphia - Twin Rivers Health and Rehab in Arkadelphia, Ark. He was born in Syracuse on May 23, 1923, to Claude and Amy (Barrett) Masters. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Iola Fuller and Phyllis Heather; three brothers: Earl, Donald and Dale; andwife June Masters on May 26, 2008. He is survived by his three daughters: Marilynn Joyce Yopp and husband Tom of Broomfield, Col.; Leona Kay Clayton and husband Bob of Arkadelphia, Ark.; and J. Bobette Colgrove and husband Larry of Papillion; nine grandchildren: Matt Yopp, Trent Yopp, Griff Yopp, Rob Clayton, Ryan Clayton, Brittany Clayton, Marcus Colgrove, Tracey Colgrove and Jared Colgrove; fifteen great grandchildren: Cody, Isabella, Anna and Nayana Yopp, Kortney, Annie, Austin and Jacob Clayton, Ryan, Kayla, Josh, Julia Colgrove, and Jake, Ben and Ellie Sachs; sisters: Irene Hanner and Vivian Parker; a very special niece who has been like a daughter, Bonnie Nannen, many loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends. On March 30, 1944, Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps. On July 11, 1944, Bob and Francis June Malloy were united in marriage in Syracuse. To their union three daughters were born: Marilynn Joyce, Leona Kay and J. Bobette. Bob had fought in the Pacific Campaign during WWII and received his honorable discharge from the Marines on April 15, 1946. He returned home and lived in the Syracuse and Unadilla area through 1960. Bob and June then moved to Nebraska City, where he owned and operated the Masters Implement Company, a John Deer Dealership, until he retired in 1985. In 1990, Bob and June moved to Urbana, Mo., until 1998, at which time they made their home in Buffalo, Mo. They moved to Bismark, Ark. in 2003, before moving to Arkadelphia, Ark. Bob and June were know for raising and training Shetland ponies and Miniature horses. They both were very proud of their National Champion "Miss America 67," which had won many championships. Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, American Shetland Pony Association (all his life), Area VI Shetland Pony Club and Midwest Breeders Association. Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Syracuse Baptist Church in Syracuse. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, NE. Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 1 to 8 p.m. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Twin River Health and Rehab in Arkadelphia, Arkansas or the Degray Kidney Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas Peterson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
