Description	:	O.C. (1923 - 2012) O.C. "Bill" Carrithers September 5, 1923 - September 30, 2012 O.C. "Bill" Carrithers joined the love of his life, Pat in Heaven on Sunday afternoon at the age of 89 in his home. His last hours were peaceful. Bill is survived by his two cherished daughters. Nancy (Jack) Draper and Stacy Carrithers. His six beloved grandchildren, Krystal, Whitney (Steven) Aguilera, Samantha and Bo Froehlich, and Jack Draper III, and Faye Hood. His last hours were peaceful. Bill is survived by his two cherished daughters. Nancy (Jack) Draper and Stacy Carrithers. His six beloved grandchildren, Krystal, Whitney (Steven) Aguilera, Samantha and Bo Froehlich, and Jack Draper III, and Faye Hood. Bill was born and raised in Bakersfield, Ca to O.C. and Carla Carrithers. At the age of 17, Bill bravely enlisted in the Navy to serve his country in WWII. Bill was in Hawaii at the time of Pearl Harbor, aboard the USS Cumberland Sound at Bikini Atoll, and helped land forces on Iwo Jima. Bill received six Battle Stars and a Ribbon of Good Conduct. Upon returning to Bakersfield he met the love of his life, Pat, and married April 9, 1949. They later had two beautiful daughters, Nancy and Stacy. Bill worked on the lines for Pacific Bell for 32 years before retiring and starting his own telephone company. Bill and Pat enjoyed 60 years of marriage before Pat was taken to Heaven. Bill has missed her dearly until they finally reunited for the rest of eternity. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents O.C. Carrithers and Carla Bailey, stepmother Martha Carrithers, sisters Betty Carrithers and Mary Abernathy, and brother Richard Carrithers. Bill had a passion for family and life. He loved being outdoors fishing and gardening He also was very active in the community. He served the Elks Lodge 266, VFW Post 10859, Masonic Temple, Footprinters, SIRS, the Scottish Rite, Pioneers of Pacific Bell, and the Old Timers Club. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all his amazing friends, the staff of Dr. Dougherty and Hoffmann Hospice who have shared love and prayers. Services to celebrate, OC "Bill" Carrithers, an amazing Father, Grandfather, and Friend will be held at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Road, October 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Published in Bakersfield Californian on October 6, 2012
