Born Sep. 4, 1928, near Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Martin and Ruth (Lane) McElhinney. She married Alvin Lambert on Dec. 7, 1946, in Garland. Mrs. Lambert was a graduate of Yarmouth High School. She worked as a school bus driver for Morning Sun for 19 years. She served as chairperson for the Morning Sun Fourth of July flower show and was a member of the Garden Club. She loved gardening and quilting. She was a member of Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and as an officer for the Women's Missionary Fellowship and Presbyterial. She also taught Bible Club and Vacation Bible School. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ron Lambert of Beavercreek, OH, and Pam Lambert of Orange City; two daughters, Ada Potratz of Cedar Rapids and Marie Woodrow of Morning Sun; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Harold and Bill McElhinney, both of Morning Sun, and Hubert McElhinney of Crawfordsville; and five sisters, Dorthy Kerr of Wapello, Celia Murphy of West Burlington, Gladys Parish of Wapello, Pauline Metzger of Morning Sun and Verla Bigger of Media, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Mrs. Lambert will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ronald Good officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Morning Sun Ambulance Service.
