Description	:	THOMAS AND OLINE VINJE Thomas L. Vinje, the son of Lars and Dordie Vinje, was born April 4, 1872 in Snaasa, Norway. In 1884 he accompanied his brothers Ole, Olaf, Siverts, and Lorentz to Pope County, Minnesota. In 1891 he came to Bottineau County to help his brother on the farm north of Bottineau. Thomas Vinje Family In 1897 he married Oline Aune at Bottineau. Oline, the daughter of Lorentz Tanger and Ann Aune, was born September 28, 1875 in Snaasa, Norway. She was a seamstress in Norway. In 1896 she immigrated to Bottineau. In 1899 they homesteaded south of Landa in Eidsvold Township. They belonged to the Mouse River Lutheran Church where Thomas was a trust-ee and Oline a faithful member of the Ladies Aid. Their farm was a stopping place for pioneers of the area. Thomas died in 1944 and Oline moved into Landa. In 1957 she entered the Westhope Home and passed away in 1959. They had five children: Dagma, deceased; Agnes (Mrs. Rudolph Scheflo of Bottineau); Lewis, deceased; Ovila (Mrs. Roy Engstrom of Antler); and Alma (Mrs. Harold Lillegard of Minot). "The People of Bottineau County 1984" ( In fact Norwegian records document that Olaf Vinje emigrated to America in 1882 . Sivert Vinje emigrated in 1885 the year his father passed in Norway. Lorents is recorded emigrating in 1888. Dordi Vinje and her youngest son Thomas appear in the January 1891 Snaasa Norway census but the records show they emigrated later in the spring.
