Description	:	St. Edward Advance A deep sorrow was cast over the community last Friday morning when it was learned that Mrs. W.E. DeVore had died suddenly about six o'clock that morning [June 28, 1907]. Her many friends had not been prepared for this sad news as is the case in many deaths. There was not the usual months of illness and suspense, but the sudden facing of death by one who, in apparent health, had met and conversed with friends only the day before. Her many friends had not been prepared for this sad news as is the case in many deaths. There was not the usual months of illness and suspense, but the sudden facing of death by one who, in apparent health, had met and conversed with friends only the day before. May McFarland was born at Hubble, Nebraska, October 24, 1883. She came to St. Edward with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. McFarland in 1904. On June 14, 1906, she was married to Mr. W.E. DeVore. She posessed an unusual kind heart and enjoyed the universal friendship of all who knew her. She was a member of the Baptist church at Tobias. Funeral services were held Sunday forenoon, June 30, 1907, at 11 o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church of which she was a communicant, Rev. J. Lonsbery Phillips preaching the funeral sermon. Burial was made at Evergreen Cemetery.
