Description : One of the foremost figures in the life of Kansas during the territorial and early statehood period. Oliver and his brother Thomas came to Kansas in May 1854 but Oliver returned to Indiana shortly after. Thomas was murdered by a band of ruffians in December 1855 and Oliver returned to Kansas.
