Oliver P. Robinson of 621 South Twentieth street died, at 12:05 o'clock this morning at Blessing hospital. Mr. Robinson had been in failing health for several years, but during the last year was able to be around. Two months ago he fell into a sewer trench and sustained injuries which terminated fatally this morning. He was taken to the hospital a week ago for an operation, and Sunday his children returned to their homes, as he seemed somewhat improved, however, yesterday there was a change for the worse and he weakened steadily until the end came. Mr. Robinson was born in Carry, Ohio, 69 years ago. He served through the civil war and then settled in Shelbyville, Mo., where he spent the greater part of his life. Seven years ago he removed to Quincy. He was a member of the Methodist church, an Odd Fellow and a member of the G. A. R. He is survived by his widow, three children, Mrs. Etta L. Hill of Springfield, Ill., W. S. Robinson of Fayette, Mo., and Ollie M. Robinson of Jacksonville, Ill,, and three grandchildren. There will be short services at the home this evening and tomorrow morning on the early train the remains will be taken to Shelbyville for burial. ~~~~~~~ (Following contributed by MO Gal) O. P. Robison Dead Oliver P. Robison died at his home in Quincy [IL] yesterday morning. Mr. Robison had been in poor health for several years. A few weeks ago he was severely injured from a fall, which together with his old trouble was the cause of his death. Mr. Robison had many friends in Shelby County [Missouri] who regret to learn of his death. For many years he lived on a farm west of Shelbyville and was one of Shelby's best citizens. He always had a good word for everyone and his geniality won him friends by the score. The deceased was born in Carey, Ohio, and was about 70 years old. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Walter S. of Fayette, Oliver of Jacksonville, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Etta Hill of Springfield, Illinois; and two sisters, Mrs. Nettie McMaster and Mrs. Frank Hatcher of in and near this city [Shelbyville, MO]. The remains were brought to Shelbyville this morning and the funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. B. B. Harvey. Burial in I.O.O.F. cemetery. Oliver Perry Robison The subject of this sketch was born near Carey, Wyandotte County, Ohio, April 5, 1846, where he lived until about eighteen years of age and at that time he joined the Union army. While serving in the army he was taken very ill and lay at death's door for many days, but near the close of the war was honorably discharged. In April, 1864, he, with his parents, David M. and Anna Robison, moved to Shelby County, MO, where he resided until March, 1908, at which time he moved to Quincy, IL. He died at Blessing Hospital at Quincy November 2, 1915, being survived by his wife and three children: Walter S. Robison, Fayette, MO, Ollie M. Robison, Jacksonville, IL, and Mrs. Etta L. Hill, Springfield, IL. Mr. Robison's funeral was preached by the Rev. B. B. Harvey at the Methodist Church at Shelbyville, MO, after which the Odd Fellow organization, of which he had been a member for forty years, took charge of the services and tenderly laid the body to rest in the I.O.O.F. [Shelby Memorial] Cemetery to await the resurrection morn. As a father, husband, and citizen, he possessed many noble traits of character, which will live in our memory till we too have passed away. He, like many of us, had faults, made his mistakes, and many were the times of our boyhood days that we remember hearing him testify in the old time class meetings to his faults and to the love and fellowship of a loving Heavenly Father, and how he was strengthened in his Christian life by the association of Christian friends. His ideals of citizenship were high and while his political views were clearly expressed many were the times that he scratched his ballot when the thought a man of his own party was not a man of high ideals and clean living, and cast a vote for some better man in the other party. When very small children, we well remember his views as to right living and his warning to us of the consequences if we disobeyed the laws of church and State. His influence and life have been an inspiration to us for a higher and better life. He had been in failing health for about four years and was operated on twice, and several weeks ago he received a severe fall which necessitated a third operation and from this operation he rapidly grew weaker until his death November 2nd. He suffered very much for the better part of four years but he endured it with Christian spirit and many times prayed that he might be called up higher and be at rest. He numbered his friends by his acquaintances and no man can truthfully say of him, "I know not his views on the public questions of the day." When prohibition and other better things were first agitated, he was ready with his influence and life to uphold them. His ideals were not as many--wait until I see how public sentiment goes. May we each one so live that our lives may lead one another to that Heavenly City to meet him and enjoy life where no sorrow nor pain ever enter. W. S.
