Shepherd Higgins, was born near Hawleyville, Iowa, in Page county, June 16, 1888, and died at her home on West Fourth street in Villisca April 1 at the age of 59 years She was united in marriage with C. Austin Wagaman in Page county February 11, 1906, and to this union seven children were bom They are, Helen (Mrs. Clyde Lewis), Nodaway; Fred, Hopkins Mo.; Lucile, (Mrs. Glen Hazelton), Clarinda; Harold, Newberg, Ore; Orvis, Villisca; Robert and Davis at home. There are nine grandchildren. Most of Mrs. Wagaman's life was spent in Iowa, with the exception however of a few years in South Dakota. She resided in Villisca five years. She was a member of the First Methodist church and was in attendance when her declining health permitted. She was preceded in death by her father and mother in 1939. Besides her husband, children and grandchildren, she leaves a brother, Fred Higgins, and two sisters, Mrs. E. H. Wagaman and Mrs. Donald Fisher, all of Villisca. Funeral services for Mrs. C Austin Wagaman were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev L. H Athey. The singing was by Mrs. Albert F. Davie and Mrs. Fredrick Fisher, accompanied by Mrs. J L. Wheeler, and in charge of the flowers were Eunice Long, Hanna Higgins, Eula Higgins, Lucile Daub, Lula Apple and Maud Gillette. The pallbearers were Edd Miers, Geo. Miers, Ray Higgins, Harry Higgins, Willie Shepherd and Paul Long, and interment was in the Villisca cemetery. From Villisca Review 8 Apr. 1948
