Fisher was born January 5, 1913, in Montgomery County, Ia, to James and Lou (Shepherd) Higgins, and died Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Villisca, where she had been a resident since September 18, 1998. Wylma graduated in 1930 from Villisca High School and received a teaching certificate from Normal Training. She could have taught school but due to her mother being an invalid and her father's poor health, she chose to stay home and care for them. Wylma was united in marriage August 16, 1933 to Donald Fisher. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Wylma was an active member of the Methodist Women's Society as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of two neighborhood clubs, a coffee club in Villisca and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America for 75 years. Wylma was preceded in death by her parents in 1939; her husband Donald in 1986; two sisters, Ona Wagaman and Jessie Wagaman; brother, Fred Higgins; and great-granddaughter, Heather Fisher. Survivors include her four children: Gale Fisher and wife Ann of Villisca, Guila Murren of Red Oak, Linda Conner and husband Warren of Omaha, Ne, and Steve Fisher and wife Mary of Red Oak; nine grandchildren: Jerry Fisher and wife Carolyn, Kim Shirley and husband Mark, Vonda Renfrow and husband Steve, Darrin Fisher and wife Heather, Mindy Lindquist and husband Ryan, Don Clark and wife Betty, Devon Bauer and husband Jeremy, Ange Kinser and husband Greg, and Daniel Fisher; thirteen great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
