Lead Daily Call newspaper, July 9, 1942 - "O. Manseau Succumbs. Death Claims Widely Known Lead Man. The death of Orman Manseau, a well known and highly respected citizen of this community since young manhood, in the Homestake hospital a few minutes before 10 o'clock last evening has brought sorrow to his family and a wide circle of friends. Mr. Manseau had undergone surgery Saturday evening. His death was caused by coronary thrombosis, it was stated. Mr. Manseau was stricken ill Saturday after he had gone to work, and was forced to return home. He was taken to the hospital later in the day. A native of South Dakota, Mr. Manseau was born at Jefferson on December 23, 1888. He came to the Black Hills and Lead in 1905, and in 1908 entered the employ of the Homestake Mining company in the mining department, after being transferred to the mechanical department. He was united in marriage to Catherine Caretto of Lead on January 20, 1913, who survives, as do a daughter, Marian Manseau, of Denver, Colo., and two sons, Edward and Robert, of Lead. Marian is enroute here and is expected to arrive here on tonight's bus. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Tillis Hirbour, Lead; three sisters, Mrs. George Bernard, Deadwood; Mrs. Lee Osmond, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. T. J. Burchell, Lead, and a brother, Commander Bernard Manseau of the U.S. navy, who is with the Pacific fleet. Mr. Manseau was a member of the Homestake Veterans association and the Woodmen of the World, and St. Patrick's church. The Rounsevell funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements and they will be made when word is received from Mr. Manseau's sister residing in Los Angeles." Lead Daily Call, January 10, 1942 - "Manseau Services To Be Held Here Monday Morning. Funeral services for the late Orman Manseau who died suddenly in the Homestake hospital late Thursday evening will be held from St. Patrick's Catholic church Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. The Rev. R.J. Kelly and the Rev. P.M. O'Dowd will be in charge of the requiem high mass and the sermon, and the soloists will be Mrs. Ray Carroll and Miss Julia Nevin. Interment will be in South Lead cemetery and the active escort will be composed of the following family friends: Darrell Ayer, J.H. Esling, Phil Cummisky, Arthur Cooper, August Hett, C.P. Gaughen. There will be an honorary escort composed of Mahlon Lang, O.J. Mochon, Mason Tyler, Glen Foster, Joe Gerrans, Percy Fielder, James Wright, John Wiggert, Oscar Lindquist. T.B. Ecker, Joe A. Miller, and George Minard. Rosary services will be held at the family residence on Summit street Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Miss Marian Manseau arrived last evening on the bus from Denver. She is a daughter of the deceased."
