His funeral and burial were held Monday in Kansas City. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Bonnie Grundy of King City, granddaughter of Mrs. Minnie Grundy, south of town, and by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Green of Coffeyville, Kas. Tri-County News King City, Missouri 04 November 1938, Friday, Page 1 Biographical Notes: Orval’s parents were Jesse Pearl Best, born in Appanoose County, Iowa, and Lenna Gertrude McKern (first name sometimes written as Lena), born same place. Orval and Lenna married on 26 Oct 1902, in Appanoose County, Iowa, at the home of the bride’s parents. Lenna and Jesse divorced as her married name at the time of her death was Hill. Orval was the oldest of the three known children of the couple and had siblings Myrtle Best Green (husband Clyde), Roma Madge Best Tainter (husband Orville), and Glada Aradell Best Hazard (husband Robert J). Orval married Bonnie Grundy sometime between 1926 and 1929, the date not precisely known. The couple had no known children at the time of his death. His widow, Bonnie, married twice more before her death. First to Roscoe Garner Hooker, to whom she was married on February 21, 1940 in Oregon County, Missouri. Roscoe died in 1945 in Okinawa, Japan, while he was in service as a Marine during World War 2. Her next marriage was to Wattsic Gossack on May 11, 1946, in Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana. ~~mjp~~
