He was the oldest child in the family of Eleazer and Minnie Cole, which consisted of one daughter and five sons. The daughter Clara and two sons, William and Frank preceded Orville in death. He leaves two brothers Arthur G. and Ernest E. to morn his passing from the family circle also numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was born and lived all his life in Mills county. He attended school near the home farm when a young lad and afterwards took college work in Western Normal in Shenandoah. He was raised on a farm and was always a hard working farmer and very interested in the betterment of farm life. In early life he united with the Presbyterian church and for many years was a very faithful worker in the church and Sunday school but as the weight of years bore down upon him he gradually dropped some of the church work but always enjoyed Bible thoughts and inspirations. He always enjoyed the beauties of nature and the friendship of a vast circle of friends and neighbors. He took pride in the fact he never used a bit of tobacco or liquor in all his life. He always felt that life was too short for frivolous things and was deeply interested in any movement for the good of the country and esteemed it a privilege to contribute in a small way to try to make the world better. He was considerably interested in politics and several time served in official positions and also as a delegate to state Republicans conventions. He was Township clerk 14 years and local committee man many years. While he was a Republican yet he put Americanism and honesty above any party. He had firm convictions and may have differed with his friends quite a lot yet we must say his beliefs and ideas were prompted by the motives and honesty and never with any political ax to grind or under any influences but as his own conscience dictated before God and man. In Mills County history I found this item it Dec 1903 Victor Folstram is the name of the stranger found in the watertank at O.C. Cole farm 6 miles south of Emerson last week
