Description	:	Clara Cole Whipple, daughter of Eleazar and Minnie Cole, deceased was born on the Cole farm home situated in the southeast part of Mills County on February 19, 1873. She departed this life on August 12, 1942 at Long Beach, California, where several of her children reside. Mrs. Whipple had been in poor health for several years. Read More	Clara Cole Whipple, daughter of Eleazar and Minnie Cole, deceased was born on the Cole farm home situated in the southeast part of Mills County on February 19, 1873. She departed this life on August 12, 1942 at Long Beach, California, where several of her children reside. Mrs. Whipple had been in poor health for several years. Her childhood, youth, and early married years were spent in the home of her birth and in its near vicinity. On January 9, 1895, she was united in marriage to Benjamin E. Whipple and resided with her husband on a farm in the Champion Hill Community for several years, afterward moving to a farm near Lewis, where the family home was maintained until the death of Mr. Whipple, which occurred September 11, 1928. Following her husband’s death, the deceased lived much of the time with her children. Of her immediate family, Mrs. Whipple is survived by four daughters and two sons, Gertrude Graham of Red Oak, Eunice Glauer of Mondamian, Elsie Morgan of Lewis, Lillian Hendrickson of California, Benjamin Whipple Jr. of California, and Paul Whipple, who has been serving in the United States Navy for the past 14 years and whose present whereabouts could not at this time be ascertained. She also leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, O. C. Cole, E. E. Cole, and A. G. Cole, all of Emerson. In addition to other relatives and many friends and acquaintances, she leaves 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. As daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Mrs. Whipple exemplified great devotion and was ever willing and ready to make sacrifices for those near and dear to her, for their well being and happiness was foremost in her heart. She enjoyed having a part with her neighbors in the social activities of the neighborhood and highly valued the privileges and fellowship of the church, the services of which she attended whenever possible. To the deceased the inspired scripture was a mine of great treasure and she leaned heavily upon its truths and promises. Her faith in the future life of the Christian believer was unshakable and she sought to instill in the minds of her children by precept and example the ideals of faith, hope and love. For a number of years Mrs. Whipple was afflicted with the loss of hearing in a considerable degree and loss which deprived her of some of the enjoyments of life, but which was bore however with patience. The years of the deceased were devoted faithfully to the duties which befall her and she leaves a very splendid heritage to her children in their memories of the worth of her character. Funeral services following a short service at the home of A. G. Cole, were held at the Champion Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial in the Emerson Cemetery.
