Douglas Tharpe sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace: with Miss Helen Bunker as organist. Flower bearers were Mrs. Earl Fryer, Mrs. Neal Gray, Mrs. Harold Robinson, and Mrs. Dennis Neal. Ushers were Bill Dunn, Earl Fryer, and Fredrick Fisher. Mrs. Bill Dunn presided over the register Book. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery with the Arrangements by the Wolfe Funeral Home. Orville Guy Marsh, son of Walter Z. and Grace M. Harnut Marsh was born December 12, 1914 in Villisca, Iowa and entered into rest at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on May 4, 1971 at the age of 56 years. Orville lived his entire life in Villisca, graduating form Villisca High School. On August 9, 1934 he was united in marriage to Reva Hayes. To this union three sons were born, Richard L. of Villisca, Allen J. of Omaha, and Larry D., a senior at Villisca High School. Orville was a Villisca business man for nearly 40 years, operating the Phillips Oil Station for 36 years, building and operating the Marsh Motel and Cafe and serving as Postmaster for the last 4 years. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years, serving as president and director for several years. He served on the Villisca City County. He was a member of the Montgomery Lodge No 270, AF&AM of Villisca, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple of Des Moines, International Order of Odd Fellows, and Lion’s Club. He was a member of the Villisca Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years, serving as fire chief one year. At the time of his death, Orville was serving as the Maintenance Officer of the 1168th Medium Truck Co of the Iowa National Guard, located in Red Oak. He served in the Field Artillery during World War 11. His military service covered a span of 34 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No 231 and was presently serving as Home Service Officer of the Red Cross. Orville was baptized and became a member of the Christian Church. He later transferred his membership to the Advent Christian Church where he was a decon at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Reva, his three sons, his daughters-in-law, Kathy and Joy, seven grandchildren, three brothers, Bill, Earl, and Tim of Villisca, and a host of relatives and friends.
