The jury deliberated less than ten minutes before returning their verdict. Members were Clyde C. Nelson, Elton Woodford, Elton E. Smith, W. E. Gilaspy, Churchill McDaniel and Albert Neal. Inquest was conducted by Coroner II C. Graves Sr. and District Attorney James T. Locke. Four members of the crew who were working with Koch in moving power lines, Fred Snow, Wesley L. Weller, Carl Thompson and Lloyd Jaynes, all testified that the death resulted from an accident in which Koch probably slipped against the wire. They all four testified that Koch was moving around the pole. That he was not ready to work was shown by the fact that he had not yet fastened his safety belt nor donned his heavy rubber gloves, used by linemen when working on high voltage lines. It was brought out that Koch had been regarded as one of the most careful men in the employ of the company. Dr. H. C. Graves Sr. was also called as a witness. He testified that he was in attendance when Koch was brought down from the pole. He stated that artificial respiration had been given and that heart stimulants had been administered but without any reaction. He stated that in his opinion everything possible had been done under the circumstances. The inquest was held at the Wilson mortuary. Funeral services will be held at Wilson chapel Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Chester Young of the Undenominational church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. Mr. Koch was born March 29, 1892, at Hillside, Colo., where he resided until he entered the U. S. army in 1917. He served his country in France with the 159th Infantry, 40th Division, during which service he suffered injury. After discharge, Mr. Koch made his home in Canon City and on Dec. 25, 1921, was united in marriage to Miss Helma Reuker of Westcliffe. There is one daughter, Ilane, aged 11. Mr. Koch was a member of the Lutheran church and the Yeoman and Eagles lodges, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans of the World war. In addition to his wife and daughter Mr. Koch leaves to mourn his death his mother, Mrs. Ida Bell Koch, of Hillside; two brothers, Harry, of Canon City, and Bert of Hillside; five sisters, Mrs. Velma Stacy of Bend, Or; Mrs. Freda Highman [Higham] of Canon City, Mrs. Jessie Bell of Victor, Mrs. Kellie [Callie] Weeks and Mrs. Beulah Houle of Hillside, and many friends.
