He was born July 31, 1920, in Ottumwa to Martin and Ida Tomlinson Poncy, and was a lifetime resident of Ottumwa. He was a former John Morrell and Company employee and owned and operated G. and O. Tap at 319 E. Main. He was a navy veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion and Eagles in Ottumwa. He married Gladys Hartley Dec. 2,1968, in Ottumwa.
