Oscar Sund, son of Fred and Minnie William Sund, was born near Guide Rock, Nebraska, July 6th, 1900 and passed away July 30, 1966, at the Webster Co., Hospital at Red Cloud, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years and 24 days. Oscar was known as "Slim" to his many friends. He lived his entire life in the community of Guide Rock. He farmed all that time with the exception of one year, he lived in Lincoln, Nebr., where he worked in the railroad yards at Havelock. He was united in marriage to Verma Tavenner, March 10th, 1923, at Superior, Nebraska. Three sons were born to this union, the oldest being stillborn; George Fredrick and Richard Lee, both of Bostwick, Nebr. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Ruby and Margaret, 9 grandchildren, one brother, Wm Sund of Lexington, Nebraska, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. He and his family have farmed near Bostwick and Guide Rock their entire married life. He was a hard and loyal worker for his family and community, always ready to help when and where ever needed. He was a lover of good livestock and his dogs. He loved to hunt and was a good sportman, a lover of nature, as one can see when they visit the home and see the many things they keep. He always enjoyed having others come to enjoy them too. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved children, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was never too busy that he couldn't spend some time with them before starting his daily work or coming home at the end of the day. He has gone to that beautiful place, God has prepared for his own, To his loved ones, who have gone on before, And rest in peace with his master.
