Description	:	Oscar Thurber, son of Albert Edgar and Mary Roupe (sic) Thurber, was born Dec. 2, 1883 at Kansas City, Kansas, and passed away at his home near Nelson, Nebr., June 23, 1951 at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 21 days. At the age of 12 he with his parents and other brothers and sisters moved to the vicinity of Nelson, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood. On Dec. 2, 1908 he was united in marriage to Carrie Amanda Farver, who preceded him in death on July 9, 1935. To this union were born twelve children: four sons dying in infancy.... Left to mourn his passing are six sons and two daughters: Marques Edgar at home, Vernon Leroy, Virgel Oscar and Marvin Richard of Superior, Nebr.; Floyd Arbor of Hazelton, Idaho; Clarence Archie of Phillipsburg, Kan.; Mrs. Edward Nelson of Moorfield, Nebr.; Mrs. Geo. W. Brott, North Platte, one sister, Mrs. Cora Zeigler of Hastings; four half brothers: Roy of Clay Center,Nebr.; Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; Orville and Glen of California; two half sisters: Mrs. Fern Rugha of Oak, Nebr.; Mrs. Thad Sperry of Superior, Nebr.; also 16 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. Thurber was a home loving man, his first thoughts being of his family. He enjoyed his neighbors and often spoke his appreciation of their helpfulness and many kindnesses. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Klawitter chapel (sic) in Nelson, with the Rev. Harold J. Coates of the Methodist church (sic) officiating.
