Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Spring Hill at 1:00 a.m. Monday morning and from the Rumsey Funeral Chapel in Lawrence at 2:00 p.m. Monday Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lawrence. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.W. Dewey pastor of the Spring Hill Methodist Church. Pall bearers were old friends of Mr. Brune: Ralph Wedd, C.C. Robinson, V.C. Ziegler, A.W. Burris, John Dunn and R.A. Dunmire. The following obituary was read at the funeral service: Oscar William Brune, son of William Henry and Helena Brune was born at Lake View, Kansas, on May 27, 1886 and died January 5, 1940, aged 58 years, 7 months and 8 days. At the age of 18 he moved with the family to a farm northwest of Spring Hill where he lived with his parents until his marrige to Bertha Stehwien of Lawrence, Kansas, on March 8, 1911. To this union was born one son, Raymond W. Brune. In 1926 he moved to a farm south of Spring Hill where he lived until the time of his death. He is survived by a son, Raymond Brune of the home; two brothers, Paul Brune of Lawrence, Kans., and Ben Brune of Union, New Jersey; four sisters, Ruth Brune, Bemidji, Minnesota; Grace Brune Haldeen, Brule, Nebraska; Agnes Brune, Milwaukee, Wisonsin and Mrs. Mae Sterling, Lawrence, Kansas, besides a host of friends and neighbors of this community.
