She passed away on February 10, 2009, at the Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 96. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Evertt Potter; two sons, Dale Lee and Jim Allen Potter; two grandsons, Lonnie Potter and Mathew May; six brothers and two sisters; and both son-in-laws, Rue May and Joe Evans. Read More	Ossie May Potter was born to Joseph Issac McCracken and Lyde Yenne McCracken on September 18, 1912, in Smith County, Kansas. She passed away on February 10, 2009, at the Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 96. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Evertt Potter; two sons, Dale Lee and Jim Allen Potter; two grandsons, Lonnie Potter and Mathew May; six brothers and two sisters; and both son-in-laws, Rue May and Joe Evans. She leaves to mourn her passing, children, Patsy May, Dewaine (JoAnn) Potter, and Harold Potter of Grand Junction, CO; Wanda Jo Evans and Richard (Sandy) Potter of Farmington, NM; Robert (Susan) Potter of Kelseyville, CA; and daughter-in-law, Janice Potter of Grand Junction, CO; one brother, Jack McCracken, of Grand Junction, CO. She has 17 grand children and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Ossie attended a little red schoolhouse in Smith County, Kansas. She married Evertt Potter on May 31, 1931. The couple moved to Hillrose, CO in 1936 and lived there until 2001 when she moved to Grand Junction, CO. To this union eight children were born. Ossie loved the outdoors, planting a large garden every year, and canning quarts of vegetables and fruit each year. She helped her husband in the fields and kept a home, washed clothes every Monday, ironed on Tuesday, and baked many loaves of bread on Wednesday; a schedule that was the same every week. She milked the cow, kept chickens and pigs… every day was full.She was a wonderful neighbor and friend, always there for anyone who needed her. A full table could always be found every day. She was well loved and will be missed by all of her family and friends. Graveside services were held Saturday 2:00 PM, February 14, 2009 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Smith CO, KS. with the Rev. Richard Fairbanks
