Description	:	Otto Stenberg, 84, passed away Friday, April 16, 1999 at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber. Otto was born February 17, 1915 on a ranch near Big Timber to Sven O. and Olufine (Berland) Stenberg. He lived and worked most of his life in Big Timber. He attended Swamp Creek School for the first and second grades, then went to Big Timber Grade School. After graduating from Sweet Grass County High School in 1934, he attended the School of Mines in Butte. Otto worked at home on the family ranch near Big Timber for many years.... Read More	Otto Stenberg, 84, passed away Friday, April 16, 1999 at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber. Otto was born February 17, 1915 on a ranch near Big Timber to Sven O. and Olufine (Berland) Stenberg. He lived and worked most of his life in Big Timber. He attended Swamp Creek School for the first and second grades, then went to Big Timber Grade School. After graduating from Sweet Grass County High School in 1934, he attended the School of Mines in Butte. Otto worked at home on the family ranch near Big Timber for many years. He was known as an excellent mechanic and heavy equipment operator. In the 1940's and early '50's he worked for Bieber Feed and Grain in Big Timber, and during the last few years he worked at Stenberg's Construction and Plumbing. Otto enjoyed photography and gardening. He was a member of the Big Timber Lutheran Church and the Big Timber Rifle Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Frances Hendricks and Signy Kirchner; one brother, Stanley Stenberg; niece, Betty Branton; nephew, Steven Stenberg; and great nephew, Sammy Stenberg. Survivors include a sister, Gladys Stephens of Big Timber; a sister-in-law, Ann Stenberg Taylor of Big Timber; two brothers-in-law, Gus Kirchner of Big Timber and James Hendricks of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nephews, Terry and Carol Stenberg of Livingston, Lyle and Betty Stenberg, Ray and Jill Stenberg, Marvin and Darlene Stephens, Bill and Carla Kirchner, Big Timber; Michael and Molly Stenberg of Missoula; Charles and Jane Hendricks and Ron and Joyce Hendricks of Billings; nieces, Cheryl and Dan McCauley of Helena, Anita and Kelly Johnson, Marilyn and Dave Wilson and Judy Kirchner, all of Big Timber, and Melanie Stenberg of Newbury Park, California. Otto leaves many great-nephews and nieces and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 20 at Lowry Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Holmlund officiated the services. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
