Mr. White who was one of the oldest, most prominent and highly respected residents of Westernport, died at his home at 7:30 o'clock Sunday evening, after a protracted illness, having been confined to his home for many months past. He was in his seventy-ninth year and was well and favorably known all through this section of the country. He was born in Ireland and came to this country with his parents when but a child, spending his entire life in Allegany County. Mr. White was a veteran of the Civil War, having served as a member of Company D., 2nd Regiment, Potomac Home Brigade, Maryland Infantry. Mr. White was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Kirkwood, of Lonaconing, in 1865. Their union was blessed with thirteen children, six of whom survive, as follows, John P. White of Washington, D. C.; Sister Marie Joseph, SSJ., of South Bethlehem, Pa.; Sister Maria Auxilla, SSJ., of Philadelphia, Pa.; Michael J., Thomas L. and Charles A. White, of Westernport." Mr. White owned and managed the Westernport Foundry and Machine Shop for nearly fifty years. Father McAdams delivered a eloquent eulogy on the life and character of Mr. White. The floral designs were numerous and beautiful. The active pallbearers were: Thomas F. Kenny, M. P. Cosgrove, Leo Connell, Martin McGuire, Thomas Beal, Frank Kelly, Michael O'Laughlin, Harry Peters. The honorary pallbearers: Dr. T. L. Wilson, O. Tibbetts, William Rosenbloom, John Griffin, James Kelly and R. H. Drane."
