Read More	Rites Are Held Here Tuesday Morning for Patrick Gant Patrick Gant, 77, well known stock farmer and land owner in Plymouth county for many years, died Sunday morning, May 10, 1942, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cecil McGruder, in LeMars. Mr. Gant had been in poor health for a long time and death was not unexpected. Patrick Gant was born in Canada, and when a youth in his teens came to Plymouth county. In early days he operated a large farm south of Westfield, in Sioux township, and owned several hundred acres of land and farmed on a large scale, raising cattle and hogs an ddealing extensively buying and selling stock. He was widely known in the community where he lived for over sixty years. He was highly respected in a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away 30 years ago, and one son, who passed away eight years ago. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Gant, of Hawarden; William and Stephen Gant, of Akron; Emmett Gant, of Sioux City; Leonard Gant, of Geddes, S. D.; and daughters, Mrs. Rita Kirby, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Cecil McGruder, of LeMars; Mrs. James Cahill, of Davenport, and Sister Wilfred, of Clinton, Iowa. All the children were present at the last rites. The funeral was held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron, Rev. Father Chas. Ernest officiating. The pallbearers were Frank Dennison, Emmett and Wm. Welch, Everett Coyle, Lovay Lamoureux and James Klauer. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here.
