Paul Haney was a rural mail carrier from the city (Fairfield) post office. ------------- The Fairfield Journal May 2, 1907 DIED IN CHICAGO, Paul HANEY Passed Away Very Suddenly There Wednesday In Hospital Relatives and friends in this city were shocked last night to receive a telegram that the condition of Paul HANEY, who was at the Presbyterian hospital in Chicago where he under went an operation about two weeks ago for tuberculosis of the glands in the neck, was critical. Closely following this message came a second saying that Mr. HANEY had expired suddenly of acute pneumonia. The shock was so great that his young wife is prostrated with grief. Two weeks ago in company with Dr. C.C. TALLMAN, Mr. HANEY went to Chicago and submitted to the operation, recovering from it so nicely that Dr. TALLMAN returned home the latter part of last week. Only yesterday the anxious young wife received a letter from him saying he had been for a walk around the hospital grounds and was feeling pretty well. It is supposed that he took cold while walking around and acute pneumonia developed rapidly. Mr. HANEY was a promising young man. About eighteen months ago he was married to Miss Anna HOWARD, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. HOWARD, who reside on East Burlington street. He was at the time of his going to Chicago a rural mail carrier from the city post office. The remains will arrive in this city tonight and the funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the Methodist church.
