Description	:	Additional information provided by Rich Robinson Pauline Anna Kenney, was born April 15, 1907, daughter of Vern and Henrietta Jackson Kenney in Steamboat Rock. After graduating from high school in Goldfield she attended Cornell College where she received a degree in English in 1927. She did graduate work in speech therapy at the University of Colorado at Boulder and at the University of California in Los Angeles. After graduating from high school in Goldfield she attended Cornell College where she received a degree in English in 1927. She did graduate work in speech therapy at the University of Colorado at Boulder and at the University of California in Los Angeles. She taught school in Stuart and later in Eldora where she met Jay Bales, whom she married on July 17, 1937. They were parents of one daughter, Suzanne. In 1946 the family moved to Sioux Rapids where she was active in several organizations. She was past president of the PEO Sisterhood, past president of the Thursday Afternoon Club, secretary of Woman's Society of Christian Service of the United Methodist church and until recently, chairman of the library board On May 14, 1972, she was proud to be chosen Mother of the Year in Sioux Rapids. Because it was her hope that she could help advance the fight against cancer, she had been an experimental patient for the Curie Center, the cancer research laboratory connected with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for the past 14 months. She passed away Monday, July 24 at her home in Sioux Rapids. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Jay ; daughter, Suzanne; several cousins and a host of friends.
