Robert Howard of Zion United Church of Christ is officiat ing for the 10:30 a.m. service at his church, to which Mrs. Hessler be longed. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Hessler was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Sterling to Henry and Barbara (Wink) Schumann. She attended Beetland School through eighth grade and contin ued her education at Atwood High School. Mrs. Hessler was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Sterling to Henry and Barbara (Wink) Schumann. She attended Beetland School through eighth grade and contin ued her education at Atwood High School. Mrs. Hessler was baptized, con firmed and married at the Congregational Church in Sterling. She married Walter Hessler on Dec. 21, 1937. The Hesslers lived and farmed in the Atwood-Merino area until 1951. Hessler then started a 20-year career with Logan County Road Department. Mrs. Hessler became a member of Atwood Methodist Church on April 3, 1955, and remained a member until it closed. She then became a member of Zion United Church of Christ. Her husband died Feb. 13, 1974, and Mrs. Hessler continued to live in Atwood. She was an assistant mail carrier in rural Atwood for many years.Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Waite and husband George of Atwood; two grandchil dren, Janelle LaBel and husband Tony of Greeley, and U.S. Navy Petty Officer Brad Waite of Pearl Harbor; two sisters, Helen Shield, and Mildred Dick and husband Gerald, all of Sterling.She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Contributions: Zion United Church of Christ. Mrs. Hessler was also a 4-H leader and member of Home Demonstration Club for many years.
