Description	:	Death of Percy L. Ward. Percy Leroy Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ward of Geneva, was born on the Ward farm in Geneva township November 8, 1895, and died at his home in Geneva, July 12, 1918, aged 22 years, 8 months and 4 days. Read More	Death of Percy L. Ward. Percy Leroy Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ward of Geneva, was born on the Ward farm in Geneva township November 8, 1895, and died at his home in Geneva, July 12, 1918, aged 22 years, 8 months and 4 days. Percy was a healthy, energetic, sunny dispositioned child until eight years old, when he was stricken with heart trouble. He was removed from school and everything was done for him that could be done. After two years he was able to resume some of his studies under his mothers training and at thirteen was able to again attend the country school, and passed the eighth grade a year behind his class. He entered the Geneva high school and graduated with his class in 1916. Knowing he could never do manual labor and not having strength enough for a university course, he entered the Lincoln Business college for a twelve months' course. But at the end of five months he overtaxed his strength and developed pneumonia, from which he never fully recovered but failed gradually day by day until the end came. How much he suffered no one will ever know. It was all locked in his bosom. No words of complaint or fault-finding ever passed his lips. He was always cheerful and gave those around him as little trouble as possible. A boy of high ideals, he loved good books, good music and good entertainments and had no use for the things not worthwhile. While his life was a short one the world is better for his having lived in it. He was a member of the Geneva Methodist Episcopal church and was as active in church work as his health would permit. The funeral took place from the Geneva Methodist church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, a very large number of people being present to attest their regard for the departed one and their sympathy for the bereaved family. The interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal - Jul. 18, 1918
