Deadwood Daily Pioneer-Times (Deadwood, SD), Thursday, July 4, 1918, page 6: Peter Ardinger Peter Ardinger, aged 43 years, passed away at his home in this city at 12:50 o'clock this morning after a lingering illness. Ten year ago he was stricken with paralysis and six months ago was overtaken with heart trouble. Since last November he had been unable to lie down, but he suffered his affliction with much courage and fortitude. He was born in Williamsport, Maryland, and had been a resident of Lead for twenty years. He is survived by his wife, who resides at Martinsburg, Va., and by a daughter Marie Ardinger, who has been with him for the past three months. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.V. Ardinger, of Lead, two sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. E.L. Crow and Mrs. Carl Russell, both of Lead and Hamilton Ardinger, who is in the radio service of the army and returned from Pittsburg Monday on a furlough. Funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church. Lead Daily Call newspaper, Saturday, July 6, 1918, page 5: FUNERAL OF PETER ARDINGER Funeral services over remains of Peter Ardinger were held from the Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock on Friday. Three and one half months prior to his death he made all the arrangements for his funeral and his plans were carried out in full on the day of his burial. The Modern Woodmen, of which body he was a member, conducted services at the grave, the Foresters acting as pall bearers. Rev. J. Maurice Hupp conducted services at the church. During his long and painful illness he was a patient uncomplaining sufferer.
