Description	:	Peter Girard, 84, of Vermillion died Sunday (Oct. 2, 1983) in a hospital in Vermillion. Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Monsignor Richard Mahowald officiated. Burial was in the Calvary cemetery under the direction of the Iverson funeral home. Mr. Girard was born Feb. 3, 1899, in Clyde, Kan., and moved to the Vermillion area in 1913. He was a retired farmer. He married Bernadette Hubert Feb 16, 1919, in Illinois. She died April 1, 1962. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Eldean (Phyllis) Kjose of Elk Point and Mrs. Donald (Elaine) Andrews of Beresford; two sons, Hubert of Osceola, Neb., and Richard Sr. of Beresford; five sisters, Alphosine Girard of Vermillion, Mrs. Harry (Melvina) Kunkel and Emma Begnoche, both of Riverside, LA., Mrs. Everett (Irene) Clay and Mrs. Darrell (Beulah) Brown, both of Sioux City; five brothers, Harvey of Riverside, Israel of Vermillion, Emit and Ranal, both of North Sioux City, and Isadore of Riverside, S.D.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ralph (Jessie) Rasmussen of Vermillion and Mrs. Wayne (JoAnn) Hawley of Burbank; one stepson, James Brown of Burbank; 16 grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
