He was married to Jensine Christine Pedersdtr Hartland about 1885 in Norway. His parents were; Peder Elling Pedersen Hartland was born on May 24 1830 in Ulvangen, Leirfjord, Nordland, Norway. as Per Elling Pedersen. The 1865 census has his name as Peer.
