Anderson, 33, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Anderson, 621 Woodland, died at 11:30 o'clock Thursday night in the Newman Memorial County hospital from injuries received in a car accident. A 1935 Ford coupe, in which Anderson was riding with his brother, Marion Anderson, 26, struck the railing of a concrete culvert on Highway 50S, 1.7 miles west of Saffordville, in Chase county, about 6 o'clock Thursday evening. The brothers were headed towards Emporia in the car owned by their parents. Funeral services for Edgar Anderson will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. Private Marion Anderson, brother of the man who died, returned Saturday from the Philippines on a furlough. Charles J. Carnes, 521 South Exchange, who was traveling towards Emporia, reached the scene of the accident soon after it occurred. He went to nearby Ellinor tower where a telegram was sent to Strong City calling for an ambulance from Cottonwood Falls. The ambulance took the fatally injured man to the Emporia hospital and Mr. Carnes brought Marion Anderson to the hospital in his car. Marion Anderson, who sustained a head laceration and a leg injury, was in a dazed condition and was unable to give an account of the accident Thursday night. Lt. Glenn Boden, state highway patrolman, reported that the Anderson car, which had been equipped with two new tires Thursday, broke off several concrete posts on the culvert. Edgar Anderson was admitted to the hospital at 6:40 o'clock Thursday night. His injuries included a crushed skull and many fractures, according to the highway patrol report. Mr. Anderson was born November 8, 1912, in Emporia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar C. Anderson, 621 Woodland. He attended Emporia High school for a time and was engaged in the cattle business in New Mexico before entering the Army early in 1941. He served as a private first class in campaigns in Africa, Italy, Sicily, southern France and Germany and was discharged in September. He had been employed by the Panhandle Eastern booster station near Olpe since his release from the Army. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd M. Anderson, of Wichita and Pvt. Marion C. Anderson, who died as a result of an automobile accident Thursday, were held Sunday afternoon at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. The Rev. J.C. Brogan, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, conducted the services. Marshall Randel sang, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn A. Blue. Pallbearers were Don J. Brown, Robert J. Brown, Finley C. Lambert, C. Boyd Lambert, Virgil Lambert and Edgar C. Lambert. Burial was in Memorial Lawn. Those from out of town at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd M. Anderson and son, Larry, of Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Brown and Mrs. H.R. Campbell, Lyons, Colo.; Don J. Brown, Arkansas City; Robert J. Brown, Humboldt; Mr. and Mrs. Finley Lambert, Cottonwood Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lambert, Cedar Point.
