Anderson Dies Graveside services for Marion Clay Anderson, who died Saturday at his home in Kansas City, Mo., were scheduled to be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon in Memorial Lawn cemetery. The Rev. J.C. Brogan was to be in charge of the services. Mr. Anderson was born October 13, 1919 in Emporia. He married Betty Hibbs May 21, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo. They moved to Kansas City, Kas., 1 1/2 years ago where he was employed as a railway clerk. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Anderson, 621 Woodland, one brother, Lloyd M. To the Editor of The Gazette, sir: I've never said much about this, but I feel strongly, and I want to make it clear I'm no better than any other guy. There are some good guys and smart ones, in this outfit. To me, if a guy wants or cares to serve his country there's no better place to do it than right here. One thing I've noticed in my experiences is that so many of us Americans have the idea that we're so much better than the people we are fighting or working with. I don't mean that we're inhuman or cruel. We're kind enough, but you can be kind to a dog and still make him understand that he's a dog. It's a small wonder to me we have as many allies as we have. This is a war over here. It's being fought by Americans, British, Aussies, Canadians and others. And guys are dying every day - guys that might live next door. This is no police action that a few cops can take care of, this is a war. To us, here in Korea, there is only one enemy and that's Russia. If she weren't arming and, equipping these people they couldn't fight. The only way we can stop Russia short of total war is to build so strong she is afraid to attack. I say go ahead, arm Japan, Germany and any other country that will fight with us. I know this was supposed to be a mechanized war, but in these mountains, machinery is no good.
