Gerrit had been killed in action on Okinawa on May 2. He was with the 77th division of the infantry, and was 19 years old. Gerrit left for the service on Oct. 4, 1943 and received his training at Camp Fannin, Texas. Gerrit had been killed in action on Okinawa on May 2. He was with the 77th division of the infantry, and was 19 years old. Gerrit left for the service on Oct. 4, 1943 and received his training at Camp Fannin, Texas. He is survived by his parents, and five sisters. No immediate plans have been made for a memorial service, and the News joins their friends in extending its sincere sympathy to the family in the loss of their son and brother. -Obituary from The Sioux Center News (6/28/1945) Memorial Services For Pvt. Gerrit Ter Haar Memorial Services will be held next Tuesday evening, 8:00 P.M. for Pvt. Gerrit Ter Haar, who was killed on Okinawa, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ter Haar, a few weeks ago. The services will be held in Central Reformed Church, with Rev. R.
