In the latter part of February this year, he was taken ill and moved to the hospital for care. Funeral services were held at the Goettsch Funeral home Monday afternoon, April 26, at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. William J. Grossheim, Presbyterian minister. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Willard Yeoman and Mrs. W. J. Grossheim. Burial was made at Prairie Hill cemetery, Castle Grove. Brown was born in Castle Grove township March 23, 1868, a son of Michael and Mary (nee Orth) Brown. He was educated in the Castle Grove township rural schools and made farming his life vocation. He never married. Upon the death of his mother a number of years ago, he retired from the farm and did considerable traveling that took him to California and Florida during the winter, always returning to Monticello where he maintained his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers, One sister, Mrs. Margaret Bickerstaff of Chicago and the following nieces and nephews survive: Harry Bickerstaff, Chicago; Wilbur and Marion Mann, and Mrs. Myrtle Pillard, Coggon; and Mrs. Hazel Karas and Mrs. Elsie Karas, Bismark S.D.
