Nault, a well-known resident of this community for a great many years, died very unexpectedly at his home here Monday afternoon about 4 o’clock. Mr. Nault apparently was stricken with a heart attack while doing some work in the yard at his home and passed away before a physician could reach him. Mr. Nault had been conversing with Superintendent Freese of the city schools, who stopped for a few minutes, and his daughter, Mrs. Claude Chaplin, here from California, also was in the yard when he collapsed. He suffered an apoplectic attack nearly two years ago and for a time was in a critical condition, but ultimately seemed to recover to a considerable extent. He worked about his yard and garden, always keeping them in good condition and apparently experienced no warning of illness. Evidently, he was in worse condition than he realized. Mr. Nault was born April 11, 1864 at Bourbonnais, Ill., being 79 years and 22 days of age. He came with his parents to this locality in 1872 when about eight years of age. The family homesteaded near Clara, about 12 miles north of Clifton, where Mr. Nault grew up. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary L’Ecuyer at St. Mary’s Church, Clifton, May 29, 1911. They had resided near St. Joe, Miltonvale and Ames before moving to Clyde a dozen or fifteen years ago. Mr. Nault was a good citizen and well-liked by all his acquaintances. Surviving are his wife and these children: Mrs. Jos Balthazar of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Mrs. Gerald Kennedy, Russell, this state; Mrs. Claude Chaplin of Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Earl Donnelly and Miss Julia Nault, both of Clyde; Glenn Nault in camp near Los Angeles; Mrs. Andrew Seifert, who is in North Carolina, and Quentin Nault of Camp Polk, La. There also are nine grandchildren and he leaves two brothers, George Nault of the Strawberry neighborhood and Alfred Nault of Okeene, Okla. The funeral will not be held until Saturday morning at 9 o’clock, all of the children who are away planning to be here for the services, which will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church with requiem high mass.
