For many years she had been a great sufferer but she had borne it with faith... Read More	Phyllis Madeline Corkum At an early hour on Thursday morning, January 28, 1965, there passed away at the V.G. Hospital, Halifax, Phyllis Madeline, beloved wife of Enos Corkum, of Newburne, Lunenburg County. Although she had been hospitalized since Christmas and several times during the past six months, the news of her passing came as a shock. At an early age, the late Mrs. Corkum had been stricken with rheumatic fever and repeated attacks led to the heart condition which resulted in her death. For many years she had been a great sufferer but she had borne it with faith and courage that "He above" alone could give. In spite of all that medial aid or loving hands could do, she passed suddenly and left those who prayerfully watched over her. The deceased was of a kind and understanding nature and felt especially near to those who were ill or in discomfort. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Born at Newburne, June 14, 1921, the only daughter of Ernest and Mary (Oickle) Eisenhauer, where she spent most of her life. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, attending services faithfully until her advanced illness forced her to remain at home. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves to mourn their loss, a son, Lennis; her parents, of Simpson's Corner; four brothers, Herman, of Grand Falls, Newfoundland; Innes, of Kingston; Garnet and Moyle, of Simpson's Corner; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Elaine and Gloria, February 18th and 20th, respectively, in 1941; and by two brothers Floyde and Alden in infancy. The funeral service, which was held from Langille's Funeral Home on January 30, at 2 o'clock, was largely attended. The Rev. Hector Magalee, of the Lutheran Church, officiated. Contributor: G Phillis is the wife of Enos Bennett Corkum , whom she married about 1936/1937 in Newburne.
