They made their home in Chillicothe, Ill., for 34 years before retiring and moving to rural Cherokee. Mr. McCants was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 119 of Cherokee, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Mohammed Temple Shrine of Peoria, Ill., the American Legion of Cherokee, Teamsters Local No. 627, Laborers Local and U.A.W. No. 974 of Peoria. He was also a member of the Cherokee Senior Citizens and the AARP. He had been employed for the Catepillar Company doing road construction before retiring. Survivors include his wife of Cherokee. Services will be announced by the Brenner Chapel.
