| Description | : | Revolutionary War veteran (see pension file W14906). Service included the nine-month period March to December 1776 when his unit, under the command of Capt. John Grannis, James Blossom, Lieut., marched from Barnstable to Falmouth and there crossed over to Naushon Island to help guard and protect the seaboard. Recorded in Barnstable in the 1790 through 1840 federal censuses. He was the son of Sylvanus/Silvanus Hinckley and Sarah Phinney (the daughter of Thomas Phinney and Reliance Goodspeed).
