Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, July 30, 1942 Rachel Jane French was born at Smithfield (NOTE: Death certificate states she was born in Uniontown, PA), Penn., July 8, 1850, and fell asleep in Jesus at the home of her grand daughter, Mrs. Lauretta Hotchkiss, Flint, Mich. Therefore the days of her earthly sojourn were 92 years and 16 days. She was married on December 22, 1868, to Clark R. Stoner who passed away in March, 1923. The Lord had blessed their home with three children: Lauretta, William F. and Albert J. all of whom have preceded her to their heavenly home. Two grand daughters: Mrs. Dorothy McGuire of Goodman, Mo., Mrs. Lauretta Hotchiss (sic) of Flint, Mich.; two great grand children, Lauretta and Jack McGuire; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Ferree, of Edgar, Nebraska remain to mourn her departure. Mrs. Stoner was a loving wife and mother, a faithful Christian during all her days. Her Christian service was rendered in the Presbyterian church, in which her husband was a faithful elder for many years. Mrs. Stoner was universally beloved as a kind and helpful neighbor and all her life was illumined by her faith and trust which brightened not only her own pathway, but also the lives of others. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church Monday forenoon at ten o'clock, Rev. W. Byrd Ray having charge with Dr. F.G. Knauer of Seward, Nebr., a former pastor of the deceased, delivering the sermon. The church choir sang "Abide With Me" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd," with Mrs. H.A. Brubaker accompanying. Burial was in the family lot in the Nelson Cemetery. The pallbearers assisting were C.R. Imler, G. Nelson Lyon, P.A. Peterson, J.B. Wehrman, W.W. Hawley and J.E. Portwood.
