Duey, the son of Charles Duey and Mable George Duey, was born September 16, 1923, on the family farm at rural Chester, NE and passed away on July 31,2009 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 85 years, ten months and 15 days. Duey, the son of Charles Duey and Mable George Duey, was born September 16, 1923, on the family farm at rural Chester, NE and passed away on July 31,2009 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 85 years, ten months and 15 days. Raymond grew up and attended the public schools of Chester, NE. He graduated from Chester High School. Following his schooling, he farmed and ranched in the Chester, NE area. He also drove the local area school bus for many years. In 1962, he ranched in the Sand Hills of Nebraska for one year. He then purchased a farm in Haddam, KS where he farmed and ranched for many years. He also worked at sale barns until he retired and moved to Belleville. KS in 1998. On April 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Loetta Palmer and to his union was born: Rosa Lee, Bob, David, Diane, and Pete. She survives at the home. Raymond was a member of the Chester Methodist Church in his early years, the Christian Church in Chester, the Haddam Methodist Church where he served on the board and active in many offices of the Church, including the Lord's Acre Day, and later the Central Christian Church at Belleville. He was a 4-H leader, coached baseball and served on the Fair Board in Washington County. He roped at the Hebron and Belleville Rodeos for many years and was a pitcher for the Chester Baseball Team in his early years. His great passion was his Registered horned Herefords. He also enjoyed music, singing and yodeling. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, hunting coyotes with greyhounds. He enjoyed deer hunting with four generations of family. He and Loetta rarely missed attending the Chester Alumni Reunions, and were also faithful watching his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bertha, Edna, Elsie, Gladys, and an infant sister; brother John, grandson Tad Walter, granddaughter Jannae Beth Duey, great-granddaughter Bella Vannicola, great-grandson Brenden Lee Tate, and son-in-law, Richard Walter. Raymond is survived by is wife loetta (sic) Duey of Belleville, KS. Five children also survive him, Rosa lee (sic) Walter of Washington, KS, bob (sic) Duey and wife Sandy of Scandia, KS, David Duey of Grantsville, UT, Diane miller (sic) and husband Fred of Morrowville, KS and Pete Duey of Clyde, KS. Sister, Ruby Baloun of Hebron, NE, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends survive him also. Funeral services were held at 10 AM Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Central Christian Church in Belleville, KS with Mark Imel officiating. Interment will be at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE. Visitation will be from 9 AM-9 PM on Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 PM-8PM on Monday at the funeral home.
