Read More	HALIFAX HERALD - 2 JULY 2001 DeLONG, Reginald Douglas - 83, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at home in New Germany. Born in Farmington, Lunenburg Co., he was the son of the late Emery and Roxie (Mossman) DeLong. He was a member of Barss Corner United Baptist Church where he served as superintendent of the Sunday school for 38 years and served as church deacon for two four year terms. He served with the Canadian Army in Holland, Belgium, France, during the Second World War. He worked as an insurance agent for about 10 years, drove school buses, drove buses for Mackenzie Bus Lines, worked at Christmas Trees, ran a fleet of dump trucks for a time, worked as a farmer and worked later at Wynn's Hardware Store. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also a past member of Lunenburg Christmas Tree Association. He was involved in politics and was a member of the Conservative Party. He loved playing cards. He is survived by his wife, the former Joy Cynthia Robar; daughters, Sandra Boyd and John, Middleton; Joan Dixon and Mike, Whitehorse; son; Brian DeLong and Fran, Goose Bay; sister, Sylvia Ramey, Barss Corner; grandchildren, Scott, Jamie, B.J., Shannon, Shari, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Zackary, Simon, Megan, Drew, Logan, Lucas. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Glennie Burdette Wentzell. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service in Barss Corner United Baptist Church, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co., 2 p.m. today, Rev. Greg Denton officiating. Burial in Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner, Lunenburg Co. Donations may be made toward the funeral or Barss Corner United Baptist Church. ∼Reginald married Joy Cynthia Robar in 1983.
