Delong 1923 Bridgewater Bulletin On Sunday morning, October 14, the whole community of Barss Corner, was deeply grieved to learn of the death of Emery DeLong. Mr. DeLong had been confined to his home but one week by malignant throat trouble. Though skilled medical help was secured, the progress of the disease had been such that he was not able to rally and succumbed to its ravages on Sunday morning. Mr. DeLong was a man of sterling character, a consistent member of the Baptist Church, respected and beloved by all who knew him. In his going will mean a great loss to his church and the community which will not be easily filled. He was thirty-three years of age and leaves a widow and three children, Winfield and Reginald, aged eight and five respectively and baby Jean Sylvia, seven months. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. DeLong, Farmington and is survived by his parents; three brothers, Earl of Oregon; Vernon of Boston; David of Cleveland; and one sister, Mrs. Benjamin Oyler, Laconia, Washington. The funeral services were held at his late residence and were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Mr. McKinnon, of Pinehurst. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, testifying of the esteem in which he was held by his loved ones and friends. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
