Description	:	Mrs. P. E. Vermeer passed away at the St. Joseph hospital at Sioux City on Saturday, April 14, 1956 at the age of 70 years and two months. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 17, at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the First Reformed church with Rev. Harry Brower officiating. Special music was furnished by four of her nephews – Arnold, Bill, Marvin, and Harvey Vermeer, who sang "My Name in Mothers Prayer" and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me". Burial took place in the local community cemetery under the arrangements of the Porter Funeral Home of Inwood. Mrs. Vermeer, nee Rena Borgman, was born at Sioux Center on February 14, 1886. On March 16, 1910, she was united in marriage to Peter E. Vermeer. They made their home on a farm southeast of Sioux Center until 1944 at which time they retired and have since lived in Sioux Center. She is now survived by her husband and the following five children; Edith (Mrs. Harold Campbell) of Sioux City, James of Arlington, Va., Harold, Bernard and Elrich all of Sioux Center. One son, Lt. David, lost his life while in the service. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren and the following sisters: Mrs. Dora De Bey of Holland, Mich., Mrs. Gerrit Feekes of Carmel, Mrs. Herman Ten Napel of Ireton, Mrs. Alida Vermeer of Sioux Center, Mrs. Roy De Boer of Le Mars, Mrs. John Poppen and Mrs. George De Boer of Sioux Center, Miss Grayce Borgman of Santa Maria, Calif., Miss Betty Borgman of Cincinnatti, Ohio, Miss Bernice Borgman of East Langing, Mich., and Mrs. John Van Wyk of Santa Maria, Calif., and one brother, Melvin Borgman of Ireton. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. M. Borgman, who died in 1942, her father, who died in 1945, and a sister, Cynthia Borgman, who died in 1925 while serving as a Missionary in China. -Obituary from The Sioux Center News (4/19/1956)
