Caviness was born Oct. 3, 1890, at Pleasant Plain, the daughter of the Rev. Richard E. and Hattie Draper Caviness. She was married to Walter F. Schafer Feb. 25, 1914, and she had made her home in the Fairfield community for over 50 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. Members of the family will be at the funeral home tonight to receive friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schafer is survived by two sons, Dick Schafer, Clinton; and Russell Schafer, Fairfield; three daughters, Mary Ellen Samuelson, Fairfield; Mrs. Geneva Mooney, Commanche; and Mrs. Ruth Barnes, Fairfield; also 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and 12 half brothers and sisters.
