They are sons of W. H. Beck of Scotia. Reuben Beck, son of Will Beck of Scotia, is the first of the boys of our neighboring village to give his life in the present war. Word was received Friday of his death and Sunday morning memorial services were held for him at the M. E. church in Scotia. He was killed sometime in July. Beck was killed while crossing the Marne River near Chatueau Thierry, July 23, 1918. He was one of the twelve children of Mr. and Mrs. Will Beck, old-time residents of Scotia. Members of the American Legion from Scotia, North Loup, Cotesfield and Greeley escorted the body from the home to the high school auditorium, where the services were held.
